For some reason Encyclias don't do well with me. I can't figure out why, as it seems like they shouldn't be that hard. Any Encyclia tips please? Under what conditions do yours do well, or not so well?

I mount most of my Encyclia genus and some of them are potted only in charcoal and get watered every day. I found it to be a problem to grow on medium like CHC or bark.

    I have the following plants

    cordigera
    alata
    alata alba
    tampaensis
    radiata

I grow in a grow room during the cool months(58f low - 85f high) 12 hrs of light , catt light levels.
In the warmer months in a greenhouse (50f low - high 90's)
diota var atroubens is in s/h , has been in same pot & medium for over 10 yrs , flowers every year on a 4 to 6 feet spike.
alta was in s/h , grew well but fowering was spasmodic , changed to medium bark & has flowered on every pseudo bulb since.
Watered & fed the same as the rest of my plants(phrags are fed @ about 1/4 strength what i feed everything else).
At the moment diota var atroubens is growing a new pseudo bulb , alata is in spike .Split alata about 2 months ago & for some reason
it has decided to throw up a spike.

    I have 5 encyclias.
1- megalantha- is mounted on cork wood with sphag, gets watered everyday. Has been growing well but has not flowered yet. It may be mature enough soon. Has never flowered in its life yet.
2- alata- in a pot in sphag. Has grown 2 new pb's this season so far. Not flowered on them yet. They are still immature.
3- radiata- in bark mix. Is growing well. The newest pb's are not yet mature enough to spike, but should be soon. This one probably gets the least amount of light of any I have. I may find a spot outside this summer for it.
4- cochleata- in s/h. In spike now on the newest pb. It flowered on each so far that have grown in my care. But so far has only grown one new pb at a time. Sits on east facing windowsill in the kitchen.
5- cochleata var alba- in a bark mix. A recent purchase. In flower now, has 7 new growths happening as well. Sits next to the other cochleata. I hope to have both in bloom at the same time at some point. I think that would look cool!
