Another one of my catts is about to open, 3 buds, just out of the sheath. I want to know what folks do to make sure the flowers orient correctly, so I don't end up with the siamese twin syndrome with flowers lip to lip.
So - Suggestions???
You could help them out by orienting the developing spike toward the direction where the strongest light comes from. Naturally, the spike will grow toward where it senses the most light coming from. For cattleyas, lot of times, they just do what they want to do but having strong and evenly distributed light throughout the day definitely will help forming a pleasing looking flower arrangement on the spike! Good luck!
