    Default Neofinetia falcata spike?

    Hello,
I have a neofinetia falcata Shutenno that I think has a spike on it, but I'm not exactly sure if it will be a spIke or a fan. Right now, it looks like a small shoot with closed fingers at the top. I'd post a picture, but I can't seem to find anything that looks like a picture attachment button here. Help? Thanks!Posted via Mobile Device

On this comment window it is the 3 from the right icons. Next to the film strip.

But that does sound like a spike. I find them hard to differentiate at first from just a new growth which would be more expected this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere.

Ok. My problem was I was posting from my phone, so I didn't have any of these buttons. Hopefully, the photo loads now. The suspect growth is the maroon one at the center of the photo. So if this is a spike, is it at an unusual time of year for one? Thanks!

It does appear to be a spike! Congrats!
Where do you live? How long have you owned this Neo?

Usually, the bloom time is June, perhaps May, if you are in a warm climate through November, though I had a spike that I lost over my New Year's 10 day vacation in January of this year.

Yay! A spike! Now if I can keep it from blasting! I got this orchid about 1.5 months ago ---- vendor information removed -see faqs on posting---- or someplace cold. I am in South Carolina, but I've been keeping my orchids indoors under lights and plastic with a humidifier. This is the first time I've had to grow indoors (used to live in FL), so it's been a new experience for me. So far, they seem to be doing well. Thanks for your help! 😀
