    Default "Bonsai'd" Phalaeonopsis

About 4-weeks ago, I came across lovely little phal that was described as a dwarf orchid in a local supermarket. Lovely fragrant flowers and lots of buds on a plant less than 12 inch tall, just what I wanted. However, it was constantly drying out because it was in a small 6cm pot and very root bound, so yesterday I put it into a larger plastic pot which sits in a clay pot for stability.

Whilst potting it, I noticed the roots were the same thickness as my other phals but had been cut to just 2 inch long to fit the small pot. This must have kept the plant small in the same way root pruning will keep a bonsai small but is not how I want to treat this plant. Its a shame what some growers will do

I'm sure your right, but suspect its size will grow with the roots
