Default How to grow a Mokara

I need general culture help with my Mokara. My daughter in law gave it to me to see if I could get it happy again. It has been growing about as fast as it's been losing bottom leaves and has small black dots on the older leaves, the roots are lackluster. She's had it in a basket with sphagnum moss (too much moss, I think, when I watered it, its quite soggy in the moss lump). She was hanging it outside here in the summer, under the eaves of her house, so not direct sun, but its been in the high 90's the last couple of weeks.

So, a couple of questions - First how do you grow this? I read they want humidity, water and air on the roots and bright light (but not direct sun). I'm looking for personal experience here!

Secondly - are they likely to thrive in Semi-Hydro? Has anyone tried this?

    Thanks!

Mokara is a sun lover. Can take full sun. Water and fertilize heavily all around they year and should bloom through out the year. It requires high humidity and thrives in heat. I am not quiet sure about using moss. Most of them are grown on open ground in S.E Asia. They are grown in ground mostly because it can get top heavy and topple over.

Given the size it can get to I am not sure if this would be a good candidate for S.H

Thanks! I took most of the moss out and just fluffed a few strands over the roots loosely - humidity is a problem here. It's hanging next to my kitchen window (Southern). It gets so hot here that even sunlovers can get burned through the double pane windows in my air conditioned house! I have to move a couple of my Cattleyas away from the window, they get burned badly. It's been about 100 degrees F the last two weeks for example. Walking outside is like walking into a furnace mid day!

If your ambient temperature so high better get a shade for time being until the plants already established....I concur with Sriram.
