Talking Paintings of Your Orchids

I just celebrated the Fourth of July with my first Orchid-Bids listing. If it is successful, this will be the only place I will sell my orchid art services.

I prefer to work "from life" but good photographs are ok. I can take the best parts from several photographs to create one painting.

This product is something every orchid collector will benefit from having. You will own not only the original artwork, but all the rights that go with it. (Except, of course, my own right to reproduce it in collections of my portfolio)

That means you can make other products with it such as greeting cards, use it in business brochures, on products like t-shirts, coffee mugs, etc. Those things are all made by companies who can work off a copy of your painting that you would make according to their instructions. Orchids especially lend themselves to nice custom embroidery, and your friends will be very impressed to receive something and know that it is your own actual plant that is being depicted.

If you buy more than one painting, either all from me ( ) or spread out among other artists, you will also be entering the world of art collecting and that can be very nice, indeed! 12 paintings make a calendar, after all, and you can deduct a nice "in-kind" tax exemption for what are called "publication rights" if you give those rights to a nonprofit to use the paintings you own in their publications.

I will be happy to answer questions in this thread or by pm.

Congratulations, Denise! I hope your auction is successful! People who are registered at Orchid-bids will ask you questions through the orchid-bids system. The messages will appear in your listing and in email notification.

Cheers,
BD

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

ok, I am just figuring out the boundaries/connections between the sites. I did leave a question in the techie board that I just fixed myself: instead of linking my home site to the Orchid-Bids "lobby" (which lacks images) I am linking directly to my listing.

Once your listing expires, the link to the site will no longer work. You will need to update it to the link I gave you in the answer to your 'techie' question in the other thread if you would like to continue to link to Orchid-Bids after your auction closes.

Cheers,
BD

Hopefully, I will have a continuous listing, & will update each time a listing closes out.

I have looked at the store feature and it might be worth it to keep three items running. But those will have to be fixed-price, won't they?

Another option might be to link to "all items from this seller" if you have that in there.

The software is capable of doing just about anything you can think of with the listing. There is an 'all items from this seller' but you must have more than one listing for it to appear. Your store can be fixed prices or auctions or trades/ swaps. However you want to set it up. It also comes with your own home page. Before investing in a store, I suggest you try listing your individual auctions and see how successful they are. You may be just happy doing individual listings.

If you really get into it, we even have a bulk up-loader that you can download to your home computer to do your auction on and then mass up-load your listing at one time. Saves lots of time for people who have several things that they want to list that will be re-listed in the future.

Cheers,
BD
