    hi marissa,
yeah, the mantis creeps me out too, but i totally admire em, how they move, hunt and camouflage!
when i take shots, their eyes always move towards the cam, real creepy and it reminds me on those old jap movies with godzilla like monsters, its soooo cool!

the mantis are super and i love their babys with those stripes. so far the bigger hoppers leave me in peace, its the smaller ones which needs some attitude adjustments! lol

    hi forum,

lately i found a strange butterfly/moth combo in my garden, the little thing couldn't even fly because of those strange divided wings.

and second post is a super cute caterpillar, apparently venomous with all those tiny hair. i found the same one a few weeks later grown up, but my shots are still in the cam, so just wait.

Did the caterpillar sting you? I forget what those guys are named, but remember as a kid being stung by them when playing in trees or riding my horse under low limbs. They would hang-out on the leaves and if they brushed your neck or arms, etc, they would sting you.

    Cheers,
    BD

    hi bruce,
no, it didnt sting me, but i touched it with a stick and there were plenty of those tiny hair sticking on it, and thats all it takes to get you in trouble. not so much on the skin i guess, but in the eyes etc.

    hi,
as promised, an update on this caterpillar, unfortunately the size doesnt come out, but look at that neat hair (brush) cut it got!
this marvelous looking frog was hiding between my aerides and bamboo wall, i call this one "jasper frog", reminds me on some of my jasper stones.
