Default guess not every hybrid can be a winner ...

Several years ago, up at my folks' place, I decided to cross a pink tulip with 'Queen of the Night' (an extremely dark purple -- closing in on black -- for those who are unfamiliar with it) just for kicks. Two of them finally bloomed. Can't say I'm overwhelmed.

& since I'm showing some garden plants, here's a Lupin being strange -- never seen a spike mutate into 3 growing points

And on my balconey, somehow a bulb from my voodoo lily must have snuck into the pot with my Persian Shield...

Finally, having nothing to do with anything else:

Look! De plane, Boss, de plane! (For you kiddies out there, that was a "Fantasy Island" flashback)

Someone had their model airplane out on the pond.

I'm sorry the tulip did not turn out as dark as you were hoping. I think it's really pretty, though. I hope you'll post a picture of the crazy lupin once the flowers open.

The tulip is a pretty color! And the plane photo (and Fantasy Island reference) was too funny.

Margo, the color is just so ... blah. I lean heavily towards rich, dark colors and bright, vibrant ones. Pastels simply bore me for the most part.

Oh and these did bloom in late spring -- I just didn't get around to posting them sooner.

That makes it clear now... So just pastels are not your favorite... I still think the color is very nice- is like very "everyday" and very relaxing!
