Looks very much like an Amaryllis Lily. Very popular Christmas bulb here in the US. See them in all the stores this time of year. Does very well as a house plant in cold areas. Bill

You can find these in bulb stores, websites. Here we call them Amaryllis. When I moved in here one of the flower beds was overrun with them. I separated them and replanted them around the yard and now I have hundreds. I see them for sale around here during the holidays.

Definitely a hippeastrum, Michael, commonly called amaryllis lily. Could be a variety of H reticulatum especially with the veining. I have the same one here, and also the red one like Noela's H x ackermanii but is not free-flowering unlike in the cooler highlands.

Thank you Yew, so this Amaryllis seems well established in our areas! I find it very rewarding as it offers flowers constantly (year round) and makes nice flower arrangements with little upkeep! Wish I could get Noela's RED version in addition, great colour!

    Cheers, Michael
