Default Lilium the oversized lily plant

Since the terrible weather hit, my yard has looked pretty bad. I went to a local big box store and in addition to my usual snapdragons, I found a couple nice lily plants as well. One lily however, is unusually huge. The tag calls it "Lilium". The buds are even huge...

Looks like you lucked out and purchased one of the Biltmore series oriental lilies or a fairy new cross named Orienpet. These are very large and tremendously fragrant lilies. I grow them and they do very well here in PA as a perennial bulb. Mine multiply and form large clumps that usually bloom in July and August. They do require a cold dormant period. I am not sure if they will come back for you in your climate. They may be just an annual bulb in Fla. They are long lasting as a cut flower also. Enjoy!
