Default My Fragrant Hedge 4 : Aglaia odorata or Chinese Perfume Plant

The fourth bush in this fragrant mixed hedge is the Chinese Perfume Plant. This plant is popular in local flower arrangements for its luxuriant glossy green foliage, not for its flowers.

Clusters of small, rounded yellow flowers emit a light, fresh perfume better smelled when carried on a light breeze rather than smelling the flowers up close.

Fragrant only in the daytime, particularly in the morning.

Looks great, Angel. So the flowers are open? I would think they are buds. haha.. Wish I could smell the fragrance.

    Cheers,

Thanks Bruce. They open just so slightly. They look more like, as you said, buds or small fruit. But the fresh, clean scent is so refreshing early in the morning.

It's a light floral, akin to those perfumes that claim to have a "CLEAN" scent. Best detected when carried on a breeze. Quite different from the heavy sometimes cloying floral scent of the sampaguita or the ylang-yang for instance.
