Default We have a visitor - Dendrelaphis caudolineatus

    Cheers,

Last Saturday when I came home from work (overtime work), was too stressed then,
so decided to take a little walk around my house and decided to stay close to my
driftwoods... then I noticed on top of my Vandas some shiny thing.. at first I though
some plastic wrapper has been blown into our garden.. but then it moved... so i though
maybe its a skink or something... then I followed the length of it and saw the head
popped out of the Vandas... I wasnt scared a bit, I was actually surprised and excited.
So the snake and I were on a staring contest for about 30secs, and its not showing any
signs of aggression and I have a feeling then that its not venomous. Whenever I step
closer it moves back and when I move back it remains, so the poor thing is more scared
of me than I am of it.

So I went in the house grabbed the camera, my wife asked me.. whats wrong... so I said
with excitement... theres are snake in our garden... im going to take a photo of it..
Thats when the wife keeps on telling me to kill it... which I argue with look at that
things its more scare of us... if we're going to hurt it, it'll definitely fight back
lets just respect the space its in and it will leave as soon as we let it be. I was able
to talk her and not harm the poor creature. Anyways I was able to take a dozen or so photos
but of them these are the only good ones. I wish I was able to photograph it dangling from
mid air that was such a view... the snake is about 4-5ft length btw.

I was told by Wally that its Dendrelaphis caudolineatus, and thats its not venomous.
Its gone now, but whenever im in the garden still try to look closely just in case its there
and that its not going to find me a to be a threat. Tho I doubt that it'll be back during the
    day.

It is really a beauty and it seems that it is scared: I was reading this is a tree snake and is the most commonly sold snake as a pet....you could have a new pet

Yeah theres no worries of it being harmed in any ways by me... cant speak about the dogs
tho. And when I learned that the main diet for this creatures are rats, its welcome to eat
all the rats they can find in my place. Im kinda fond of this fellow, im even considering
having a snake for a pet, but the problem is that my wife would kill me.

I should have taken a pic of it while on top of the driftwood, it was a sight.

He was helping you take care of your plants. Probably catching mice for his dinner.

Thanks for letting him go about his business.

    Cheers,

Thanks guys and dont worry the snake will never be harmed by me. I told the wife that
the next time I'll see it, I'll keep it as a pet... naturally i got a slap anyways the only
bad thing that came out of this is that my wife wont let me buy more plants...... since our
    house is a jungle already.

Bad news.... we heard from children playing that they've caught a snake and killed it. I
believe this is our snake.... I was so sad when I learned of it.
