bang zain,.. this reminds me of the forest in negri sembilan malaysia,.. used to hitch hike there every sunday, since it was part of my school activity in kolej tuanku jafaar had to choose at least 2 activities on sundays, but back in the day... didn't pay attention to orchids at all,... more like watching if theres some snakes in the bushes,... not that i like snakes,.. just worry about stepping on one,.. looking at pics of orchids in the wild, kind of regret not respecting the environment more,.... it's precious,..

Thanks for the wonderful, pictures , Zainal. Reminds me of Gunung Jerai in the early 1960s. Great to see that there are still places where our local species are still holding out.

bang zain,.. i can't recall any name.... it was 1995 and i was 14 at the time,.. the school was about 74 acres big, that time newly built in the middle of nowhere, the only name i remember was "taman negara" cause i stayed there 5 days (also school trip), it was about 3 hours drive from the school (i think), they said it's the oldest forest, one of the highest,.. my friends said they felt the clouds passing over their face, cool and wet like morning dew,.. i got to the top and couldn't feel a thing,..

Btw bang zain,.. if the chance of people taking them are so high, don't you think its better if you keep it? Rather than they take and kill it. At least it would be in better hands with you (if the choice are only between the 2).

Wow that was long time ago lijun me too I cant recall could be Gunung Tahan one of the highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia that really gave you awesome experience. I was told that there were so many orchids species there not dare to climb at this moment, no stamina and easily breathless.he.he
I can only take one or 2 plants not more cause in lowland if the atmosphere is not suitable the plants itself will be stunted ( although the altitude about 2400 feet the temperature at night around 11 pm basically is 22 degree Celsius) I would prefer let them grow in nature, untouchable just pray hard may the aborigines wont see them. If something bad happen nothing much that I can do just live it to the mother nature.
