    Default Tree paeonies

Here in England we have had such a fine and sunny April ,hardly any rain, and until this last day or two, temperatures soaring into the mid 20s (C) which is way above normal for the month, that the Spring flowers are fading fast, and although the early summer ones are going to be earlier than usual, they haven't quite got here yet ; so I have a bit of a gap- bridged this year by some very fine displays of tree paeonies . Why "tree" I am not sure - maybe they get that big in China or Japan , where they come from. In Uk 5 feet would be a big one. My plants have all been in for about 6 years and are mostly 4 feet or so. here's a sample - remember that the flowers are 7 or 8 inches across - and you will sdee why they are such stunners.

yes, they are not cheap in UK - I guess that they are all grafted, and it takes time to establish ; then if you cut up a plant to provide bud material for grafts, you don't get many out of one plant - it all adds up.

Jordan - maybe you should go into the lawn mowing business!

Geoff - I agree that those are quite the stunners.

Jordan...I feel your pain, having had in-bud lilies mowed down before.

Geoff--these are simply divine. I love peonies and would love to have them, but I've been told they don't like it around here. I do admire them though!
