Nepenthaceae... in flower!

    Default Nepenthaceae... in flower!

    my big-ass pitcher plant hasnt made any pitchers in ages...but it upped and decided to flower... go figure... and im just bored enough to share it with all yall!!

    found some pics from when it was putting out pitchers... i guess i should be using this down time to find out why it's not making pitchers anymore...hmmm oh well...

    Looks like your plant is male, Shane, though I'd need a better macro shot of a bloom to tell for sure.

    Nice pitcher there. Maybe you need to show it to the Nep to remind it what it should be doing.

    When mine wasn't making pitchers it was due to lack of moisture. As soon as I moved it under the bamboo tree it took off and made a ton. That is also the misting area...aka jungle.

    oh, al, you silly cow, it only puts out pitchers of gin and tonic... well, I do have a Jim beam and diet coke variety but I think I've stressed that one out too much!

    Nepenthes Miranda. Seems all of them turn out male.

    Since many are mass produced via division, cuttings, and tissue culture that really wouldn't be terribly surprising -- albeit disappointing.

    Somehow, I knew you would be able to tell. I remember when I posted my flowering pitcher plant and you named its sex.
