    Smile Tillandsia stricta and bulbosa

I rarely stumble on such nice Tillandsia for sale. My son is visiting and we went to a local "boardwalk" type shopping area here. Much to my suprise, in a homemade soap store, next to the sponges sat plastic bins of Tillandsia. These are the two I bought.

Love both of them. Definately a cool and unique bloom. i love the way you shop. Love the foliage as well as the blooms. I am unfamiliar with these. Will they multiply and continue growing and blooming without much care or are they just a one time novelty type of plant?

Tillandsia grow in the trees here. I have a rather huge one growing in my oak tree out front. I read that they like to be mounted and hung upside down so that they don't get crown rot...sounded familiar. lol I'll put them in my misting section. I was sorely tempted to just throw them in a basket with a vanda...we shall see. lol These throw off babies after they flower so after awhile you can end up with a large specimen as in orchids. The bulbosa is supposedly rare, however as i'm not familiar with these too much I'm not sure...it's just something I noticed mentioned in several articles about their care. You can see with the Stricta there are already several growths. The lady had several kinds. I'm tempted to go back and get a few more.

Connie, Great purchases! There is a big Tillandsia nursery just south of you in Sarasota.

Definitely not something one finds often around here. I always liked the foliage of bulbosa.
