Default Hylocereus (Dragon fruit) Part 2

Huge. Nocturnal. Ephemeral. It is a spreading cactus that climbs over my pongkan citrus and the species orchids on the Christmas Palm.

I wonder how many of these can a dragon consume, Blanca? I was hoping I'd get some fruit this time but the insects didn't come out that night nor early the next morning. I wonder where they have all gone.

Thank you, Wade. I wasn't having an easy time at first because the flowers were higher than eye level and the pictures just did not come out right. So I kept changing the settings until I got impatient and just put the digicam on Auto, and voila, perfect pictures! Now, why didn't I think of that earlier?

beautiful, I think cactus have some of the prettiest blooms , many of mine have been blooming lately but I've been so tired from work that I'm asleep before they open and only see the closing bloom in the morning, I'll try to stay up one night and get some photos, until then I will enjoy yours, thanks for sharing

That's a pity Ed, missing out on the flowers especially since they don't bloom that often. Anyway, I hope to see photos of yours. I'm sure they must be stunning.

Thanks, Ian. My hylocereus begins to open once it is completely dark, so around a little before 7PM and are fully open at about 8PM. Now, I don't know about that pongkan since I planted it in a big pot, I don't think it is getting enough space for its roots. I hope I am wrong though. Keeping my fingers crossed.

i think the orange one will be white inside. not sure though, they had a few different kind. my red variety that has fruited in the past only grows fruit about 1/3 this size (a little bigger than an egg)......... so i was not quite prepared for the unusual discoloration effects of eating such a large red dragon fruit! that was kinda terrifying for about 10 seconds.

Yummy!!!! Over here it sells for about US $2.70 per kilogram. I like the yellow one which is white inside.
