Ang, can your plants go outdoors? Humidity really helps, but it's even hard here in NW FL. Misting helps but I put at least two gallons + a week on my plants in the summer - they are in 14 x 14 pots with only 1 -2 drain holes each and stay outside 24/7 until winter. Guess that doesn't really help you in NY. Good luck - don't give up!

I knew I had a problem when I repotted the hibiscus I had, only because I wanted its pot for an orchid. It really did well to make it six months here (mostly because I was afraid the person who gave it to me might visit.) When she moved up to NH, I gave the plant to a friend to make room for more orchids.

Well, I've tried following the advice about misting and how to water, and it seems to have helped. The leaves have stopped turning yellow (at least for now!) Thanks again for all the tips.

LOL. Julie, I know what you mean. Most of my non-orchid plants have been given away to make room for more orchids. This hibiscus was a rare exception...

He won't croak it...but he'll keep dreaming of the lovely 'chids that could fill its space.

As I said, it's days are numbered!

You might also try using a fert w/ chelated iron. Someties chloriosis [yellowing of leaves due to iron deficiency] sets in -- particularly for house plants. Do you have a balconey/patio at your place? If so, put the plant out during a good thunderstorm [no saucer under pot] and let the rain rinse out any mineral salts that have built up.
