Ania, what are the tall yellow flowers in your garden? They are beautiful!

Wow...Tmai hijacked the thread right back to its roots. Nice one!
Not much fun for the hijackers though...
You should be more considerate!

Tmai,
Thank you for asking, those are "desert candle" or Eremurus. This is the first year they flower for me since I got them three years ago. I like them so much, I want to get another color. If you want to grow them PM me and I will give you the details.

Julie,
I have been watching you and your twisted ways. Inviting all my garden visitors to some dark woods in NH! I have been too preoccupied this weekend with house guests, kids, birthday cakes etc, because otherwise I would say where is this thread going? And why is she talking about cement in Russian?
It did sounds like confusing, but exciting party so, count me in too! If looking for wild orchids in NH is not successful you can always come to my neck of the woods.

Mwahhaaahhaaahhaaa!
The dark woods of Cow Hampshire beckon...but your garden is a pretty spiffy destinations spot too,Ania! Our parties are always confusing and exciting. Perhaps we're excited by confusion? I can feel my pulse quicken just pondering the question...
I thought the Eremurus looked a lot like torch lilies - are they the same, or related? Mine (past tense) always were in bloom for the fourth, which was fun since they looked like fireworks.

Julie,
Torch lily or Kniphofia does look similar to desert candle, but it is smaller and two-colored (yellow and dark orange) I have it too. I don't think they are related, because the root system is totally different. Also the desert candle disapperars after flowering and torch lily stays nice and green until Fall.
Regarding confusion here is my take on it: I don't understand, I laugh and assume it must be a joke! I have been laughing all my life!
