    Beautiful yard Cin

If you are a cat lover should of been at the place on the river we moved from , the Danes were having a fit I walked out the front door and there was a big mountain lion pacing back and forth , not far away on the other side of a fence . Prior the seeing it something was getting the geese and ducks from the pond , also had a pony foal raked on each side of the withers deep gashes , later on it was stalking a new born calf , I shot over it's head would of aimed lower but the cow was milling around protecting the calf .. Other things we had there copperheads , timber rattlers , bear , elk . and others . Gin

Gotta let them know who is boss, Gin. Good for you firing the warning shots at that nasty rake for killing all of the birds and wounding the youngsters. I would have aimed lower too if not endangering the animals. We had a bob cat that wandered around the neighborhood at our other house it was a beauty and never bothered anyone except the nesting herons on once in a while. The wild pigs did more damage to the gardens and golf courses.

Well, here the bobcats are protected. After all, they are basically just survivors hanging on to the edge of suburbia. Although people quite frequently shoot the rattlers. I figure it's easier to call the firemen, as they have some special long handled tools they use to catch the snakes, and a gunshot could richot all over the place and hurt someone. (besides, it seems a little bit of overkill to pull out a 9mm just to kill a rattlesnake)

Conservation said we did not have mountain lions , until one was found dead .. hit by a car . They are protected unless they are killing livestock .
A state park was across the river , they said we did not have elk .. Ha!saw one on a gravel bar getting a drink .. found out later they brought them in ..
My husband put out grain for the wild turkeys in the winter there were 70 or more of them that waited for it .. we did not hunt them .
Hated to move but it was to much work for husband to keep up with . Gin

I just love to see wild turkeys. There are big flocks of them up where my folks live. It's so great to see the males displaying at mating time.

And here I am concerned that the vicious, greedy, orchid eating squirrel will not be kept at bay by my pack of orchid guardians: 2 large dogs and 3 'killer' kitties.

I HATE squirrels. They are just rats with better P.R. and costumes.
