Yeah, that is what we went through two years ago. It took us THREE years to get the sprinkler system in and a front lawn and the back lawn tamed. Got the rock garden in the front all planted and established. Then the darndest thing happened. All those empty lots that were around us and gave us soooooo much space started filling in and we felt cramped. The 70 x 115 foot lot with the second fairway as our back yard (another motivating factor) now was feeling more like a postage stamp.

So, here we are on 1.6 acres and working away again. See my intro thread for more info and pics. Hard work, but fun, fun, fun.

Hope you will have fun in your new place as well.

    Beautiful pictures!
We looked at a house last year that I LOVED parts of. One was the way too overgrown yard. There were so many treasures there! You could TELL the family loved all nature. It had the neatest fruit trees (keep in mind I'm in NH so it's not hard to impress me!) and I just knew when things bloomed in the spring I would find some TREASURES.
Inside, someone had put up their own hand painted tiles. Flowers mostly. My husband, the perfectionist, said they had to go, because they weren't perfectly put up. But I would have insisted on keeping them and doing other things with them. Maybe retiling and using some of them.
It had one of those greenhouse kitchen windows that I would have adored.
And funniest of all, the family also did trapeze work. It had great wood beams all over the house, and there were hooks all over the beams. My husband explained what they were for.
I think I would have loved to meet that family :c)
It wasn't the house for us afterall, but I miss that yard and those plants and trees! I hope the right people bought it so most will survive.

I'm sorry you had to cut down so much. I can empathize with you. But Diane and everyone were so right - you get to start over!!!! Try new things :c) And you get to do tropical things... *sighs as the heat comes on AGAIN*

They look great, Val! Glad they're hanging on, thus far. Is that a Den cruentum in the middle with the orange throat?

    Good luck with them!

Glad you can see the silver lining, Val. I know you'll have fun in your new place. It looks like you have lots of space to play with! Your orchid collection looks like a grand chorus on stage and ready to perform. Happy gardening!

    Thanks
It's a Den. Precious Dawn 'Pauwela Flame' & looks just like my Den. Frosty Dawn 'New York', except NY has a great fragrance.
