In other words what is this thing -
Joe and I had some of these in key west but they died when hurricane Wilma caused a palm tree to split in half and crush the poor critters.

Anyway down there they were called witches broom sticks... but having looked online for that we don't find these.

    So here ya are.
The ends are very pointy (ouch) but there are no spines, thorns or spiky hairs. They sorta look like snake plant or Mother in Law's tongue but they are round and not flat.

I belive you have a Sansevieria cylindrica.

It is related to mother-in-laws tongue, with cylindrical leaves instead of flat leaves. These plants do bloom, and are supposed to have a scent somewhat like Hyacinths. Google it and see what you think.

This sucking up to Thumb is killing me...I'm trying to leave this screen up a little longer each day, trying to train myself to think nice Diane thoughts. But boy, it's hard!

This is going to be a rugged go...

    Default Kudos Diane!

Both your plant and the common mother in law's tongue below to the genus Sanseveria.

Mother-in-law's tongue is Sanseveria trifasciata, I believe.

Oh, perhaps I shouldn't have sent you those 2 coupons for free drinks on the flight out... it will make things harder on you... You don't have to use them!

Just keep thinking of the free bed and board McStruggling not to mention the booze! oh and all the orchids that you can try to steal when she's not looking. Or are you still planning on taking some with you to stay at Aunty Diane's to give them a holiday and get them all relaxed and happy?
