I thought I had a picture with my mother standing next to that. My description that it is much taller than I am (6 feet tall) will have to suffice though. I would guess the spread is about 10-12 feet as I remember it being taller than I can reach (8 feet).

Oh, you know you would not want to live in California again, right?

Maybe one of these days we will be able to have an Armstrong Redwoods reunion for those that have been there and have moved away, during bulbosa blooming season of course.

    LOL

Steve - that root bundle is far more than 12 feet across. It's still there, it was just too dark for me to get a good shot of it this time. The creek was bone dry, we used to cross it on a fallen tree back when I was a kid. The calypso should bloom in about 3 months if they get decent rain this year.

Yes, that is stunning, wonderful crashing surf and whale watching in the spring. But you would not believe the development on that place in the last few years... sigh.. Did you ever go up the coast to Glass Beach? Thats where the sand is made up mostly of glass from bottles thrown in the old dump - 80 some years ago. Now it is soft sand, blue, red, green, brown, etc.

Just a couple more pics (from the BIG redwood are Diane talked about) and then Diane can have her thread back.

We knew we moving to ID soon so we were mostly looking for pictures that we might be able to enlarge and use as wall murals on this trip.

Here is a picture of a sign that shows the area we were traveling in. The Avenue of the Giants is part of this area.

And a picture of us on a trail bridge.
