At the moment I haven't been painting to sell yet, but maybe one day. I remember a while back in my graduating year of high school I said that I wouldn't mind owning a art store one day (though I wouldn't think so soon).

I took this photo outside this windy morning. I think it better represents the painting

I'm practicing and I wonder what my next subject will be. I need to practice to learn those skills of controlling these paints, I notice each next painting is progessively better. Though not without imperfections, I think this recent one is good enough to hang. I had already sketched a Psychopsis, though I have to think of how the background should be. Cyp parviflorum will definitely be painted, its stems are just popping out here and growing fast. I hope cyp reginae will bloom this year (if it does it will be a likely subject too)

I photographed and posted all my orchids under a black background with usually uniform lighting. This makes it difficult to make a dynamic painting placing the blooms in a correct niche without imagination. I might search my rejected photos folders for more interesting lighting on blooms now. Probably photos of blooms just on the windowsill will give the correct lighting for a wider range of shades of light and dark

I just finished Psychopsis, based on Psy Mariposa.

Thats wonderful! I particularly like the way you've captured the frill round the lip.

Oh, nice! I like the background on the Psychopsis. It has lots of energy!

Cheers,

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .
