Oh...kitties, wonderful kitties! Thanks for sharing your babies. I miss Tinker Toy (see avitar) something terrible but I can sure enjoy your kitties. Miss Maude was just a sweetheart last time we visited Cin and I even got kitty kisses from Molly Taco. Thanks all for posting your kitty pics. Where is Orchidman???

Wow! There are a lot of adorable kitties out there. Apparently my adoptee has good company of kitties who live among the orchids.

Well, I tried spraying the cats, startling them, yelling at them and giving them something else to eat, but 2 of my cats have destroyed two cymbidiums, a Colm. Wildcat(which is recovering outside) and a Odont. cross. I don't know what else to try.....they don't seem to be interested in any of the other orchids, although, I have seen a few munch holes in leaves.....catnip doesn't distract them either....I have had to put their favorites in inaccessible places

I just wanted to quickly jump in and say that I've thoroughly enjoyed this post, and that I hope more of you post kitty pictures!! Or doggies, I like them all! Particularly pomeranians....anyone have a pomeranian?

I'm not sure if these will upload properly, but here are my 4 kits:
Top one is Miss Katy-bird, next is Emmy, the spotted one is Piper. For some reason, it won't allow me to post the last pic of Tessie. I may have to add a separate post...Tessie and Piper are the two who love orchids! Now they even want to nibble the catts!

Here is Tessie....she is the worst at eating the plants....does anyone know if it is safe to put tabasco on orchid plants? I thought maybe that might work

What beautiful cats! I've been without one since Rory died in Dec. The local paper however have put out a plea because people are dumping their cats because of the credit crunch! I'd get rid of OH before I'd dump a cat

Mare, your kitties are so beautiful. I love the spots on Piper's back. I don't know if it will stop your cats from eating your plants, but the tabasco should not hurt the plant. I have seen a citrus spray that is marketed to 'keep cats off of your furniture and away from house plants'. Maybe something like that would be better?

    Cheers,
    BD

i think I may have some citrus spray aroiund here somewhere. If I can't find it, I'll try a little diluted tabasco....I tried all the different sprays when they decided one of my chairs was a scratching post, but they didn't work...
    thanks

I had three cats at the time I used the citrus 'stay away' spray. It worked well for me. It did not work for the dogs in my flower bed outside though. I think it probably washed off over night. But in the house it worked to keep the cats off of my couch and curtains. Good luck!

    Cheers,
    BD
