Baby blackbid
I didn't notice this little mite on the honeysuckle until I went to prune the escallonia. I had enough time to go back in the house to get my camera. Then I left it on it's own as it was calling for it's mother.

So precious! I just love spring with all the baby birds, but I do worry a bit about them. I have a doe with little twin fawns that came around all winter, but then I found one of the twins dead in the street. It's a dangerous world out there.

The latin name for our common blackbird is (cover your eyes!) Turdus Merula! We Only have one sort of blackbird here. They belong to the thrush family.

Judi, I'm afraid that is a baby Starling Sturnus vulgaris. Still doesn't make it any less cute. Blackbirds are bigger and browner.

Aww how cute I am a sucker for them, in the past have hand fed 3 one oriole (twiddle) one sparrow (big mouth ) and one Grackle (grackie) all were found after a storm no way to return them to the nest even if I could find it .
All were released I still think about them .
Sad about the fawn, poor baby... The pictures are wonderful Thanks ... Gin

Thanks Steve! Shows how much I know! I must make the effort to go to Bempton and see the puffins this year.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

Such a darling little bird--I hope it found its mother.
And those fawns--incredible!
Thanks for sharing both.
