He went THATAWAY!

Time for mainteinence before take off

Btw in a semi-related Q:
Does anyone know if geese commonly adopt the goslings of other mated pairs? Saw a mated pair with 14 or 15 young in tow. Figure that is either one amazingly fertile goose or she and her mate kidnapped someone else's young.

My dad raises domestic geese on his farm. Many times they will lay their eggs in one or two community nests. Then, when the goose decides to sit, she may be sitting on her eggs as well as her neighbor's eggs. When the chicks hatch, they stick with the 'mother' who hatched them. I don't know if it works the same for non-domestic geese, but it makes sense.

Lovely photos!

Cheers,
BD

Brilliant shots, love that Great Egret. The water is so clear.
