Default Todays Visitors an Anole and Egret

I started out my day going through the plants, now indoors, to water the dry ones. My first trip to the sink with a vanda brought out an Anole, or gecko as we normally call them. He sat watching me water the plants for a full 5 minutes or so. Finally, I grabbed the camera and snapped a few pictures of it. It was so funny to have it sit and watch me go back and forth with plants. Sort of like a dog...lol. After snapping a couple pics, I corraled him onto a plant and took him out front to the snapdragons. Not five minutes later, a Great White Egret went "posing" his way through the back yard. They freeze in place until a little frog or gecko moves and then they snap the little guys up. As they freeze in place it makes it easy to get pictures of them as it's almost like they are posing sometimes. Today, this egret made it super easy to get his picture as he went by the back windows. I hope everyone enjoys my pictures of my visitors. This kind of stuff is why I sit somedays and just stare out my windows. The front picture window can be much more entertaining than tv sometimes!

Great shots, Connie. I hope that second visitor did not eat your first visitor.

    Cheers,

LOL Ditto on the in-laws!! And I doubt it was the same little guy. I put him out front in a huge thing of snapdragons that was sure to have some buggies for him. He had to be hungry too after a couple days inside!

Brilliant Connie. Wish I was as fortunate to have herons and anoles in my back yard.

Those little lizards lead a tough life. I was in Florida in 2003 and I watched a Common Grackle devour a small lizard--I couldn't believe it would go after prey so large. Now, for an egret, it would hardly even be a mouthful! LOL

    Cheers,
    Rob

Sometimes I have to pinch myself...living here is definitely interesting. I grew up in Michigan, totally different bugs, birds, even the lakes are different. Here you swim in a lake something eats you. Up north you swim in a lake (even in summer) you freeze your britches off! I've had the "best" of both worlds sort of....

Great shots, Connie! My parents live just south of you and I love the shore birds and reptilian visitors they get. Your pictures remind me of their place! No anoles in the house though - their cat sees to that!
