We just installed a rain barrel last week hoping that some day we would get some rain. Well the 1/4" of rain last night filled our 55 gal drum to overflowing, YEA !!!

The beanie did work (to a point). I heard a noise and there were raindrops on the window. Lasted about 2 seconds though before the sun came out again.

We were in one of the lucky areas that got a nice rain yesterday. I keep saying I want new rain barrels...you know the ones that attach to the house? Right now the OH runs with buckets from downspout to barrel. I think he likes it...when I suggested a higher downspout on the corner of the house, he asked why?! lol Gotta love him...at least he doesn't complain about it. I still think the other method would be more efficient....although he does make sure it's clean water he collects...after all the gunk goes he fills up the barrel.

We got another 1/2" last night, now I am getting spoiled. Another 12" and we will be back up to almost normal.

Molly, could you please send some across the Alley? Last I heard, we have three fires burning, and except for this morning's five minutes, not a drop in sight.

While I loved living in the high mountain desert (New Mexico), Florida should not be a desert at all.

Batten down the hatches folks. We still haven't had much rain, but today it was announced by the weather guessers that there's something tropical brewing, and it's supposedly going to be headed our way.

They even commented on how badly South Florida can use that rain.... but along with rain, tropical anythings have winds too. Let's hope the rain gets here but leaves the winds behind.

Guess we'll be watching the news for the next few days at least, for updates. And then we can start our 24/7 constant bombardment by the media, until season ends at the end of November.
