Default For those of you who like to "horse" around

Last month I attended an equestrian event for the first time. Knowing there are those of you out there who might be interested in such things, I took pics. Considering all I have is an inexpensive 'point & shoot' digital, some of the pics came out surprisingly well. I had difficulty in choosing which ones I liked best (even with respect to the less than stellar shots) so now I'll make all of you suffer through multiple, often similar pics. I apologize ahead of time for how picture heavy this will be.

    1st a t-shirt that I just thought was a hoot

Some shots of the area -- it was a beautiful day

There were 8 or more of these stall tents you see in the background. The fair/show/competition lasts for about a month during which time this site hosts about 1,500 horses.

Those familar with such events will undoubtably figure "well yeah, so?" but I thought this was neat -- before competitions commense, each rink/course(?) has one of these trucks that go about wetting down the dirt. Kind of the equestrian version of the zamboni.

Now a LOT of pics of jumping horses

A narrowly avoided "face plant" -- neither horse nor rider were hurt.

    Well Done!!!

Some of those P&S cameras do a better job than my high end (at the time), expensive, Minolta DSLR (which is no longer available).

In fact, my little prosumer does a better job than my high end DSLR.

My next camera(s) will be Canons.

Those are some gorgeous horses. We had a couple of Missouri Foxtrotters growing up, so it brings back happy memories for me as well. Never did the jumping competitions, but we rode all the time (western saddles of course) and jumped all sorts of things we probably shouldn't have. Thanks for sharing the pictures. They are great!

Amazing shots Pavel !! Capturing such shots of horses in action is really very difficult. Thank you very much for sharing the pics.
