    Default Monarch

    I know we have had some absolutely stunning butterfly pics recently, and I wouldn't call this one stunning, but I was so happy how close he let me get (my camera is point and shoot) and so surprised he stayed still long enough for me to get the shot, that I just wanted to share the moment.

    How lovely! Looks like a large female...not 100% though unless I saw her wings open but first guess is female. They are really amazing butterflies!

    Great Monarch Pic they actually love to have their pictures taken. I hear that they have started their annual migration south.

    Thanks for the compliments. Sadly I don't know enough about butterflies to be able to tell a male from a female. And do they really like having their picture taken? I could hardly believe it wasn't flying away from me, but that would explain it.
