    For normal orchid visiting I just have a camera bag and one backpacker. This is really field trip for study, the maximum I stay 5 night in the forest.

    What a lot of equipment to carry for your field trip! That little Honda cub is a real 'workhorse' - so nippy and versatile and gets you almost anywhere. I use one when I go 'exploring' new orchid locations or on one of my photo outings.My wife thinks I am too old to be running around on the old bike but it gives me a lot of freedom to roam around plus it's so economical.

    Thanks a lot for the new set of photos.

    Wow! So many things that you loaded on your motorcycle. It's good that you are still able to balance it well while driving it!

    Great photo of you chu! I'd say that you're also good-looking and very handsome.

    How is the weather now in Vietnam? Do you have frequent rainfall now?

    Here in Manila it has been extremely hot and dry. No rains whatsoever and so rarely would there be an insignificant drizzle for less than 2 minutes. It's a good thing that the past week surprisingly we had rain one noontime. Not heavy rain - just your regular rainstorm which lasted for about an hour or so. Although I don't think that rainstorm will have any major, significant effect on the dried out countryside and riverbeds. But it is still better than nothing at all and the weather has seemed to cool down a bit because of this. I sure hope the rains start so we don't have to suffer this extreme heatwave around Manila. On the local news, Mindanao which is south of Manila has been also struck heavily with the dry climate and frequent brownouts have been occurring because there is not enough water to feed into the Maria Cristina (waterfall) hydroelectric plant which supplies electricity to almost 2/3 of that area. The cities over there had to resort using seaside power generating fuel barges in order to augument the loss of power but still not enough. You can guess how bad that is for orchid growers when there is a drought (and no electricity).

    My sympathies to you Jojo and all the orchid growers in the Philippines during this drought. Here in the NW of Peninsular Malaysia we also have a dry season from Dec to April or May. However this year, although the heat has been unbearable, the rains have come quite early, from mid-April, a real bonus for the orchids. The rains have not been heavy, just afternoon showers for 20 mins to half an hour or so. We are lucky because the main dam here, the Muda Dam, is only used for irrigation of our padi-fields and drinking water and so we have enough water for both purposes.

    [QUOTE=cxcanh;171307]some more

    Hi Canh,

    Beautiful sceneries especially the water fall and rice fields. The rice fields remind me of our visit to Sapa.
    Where did you take all the lovely shots? I ought to make it my next visit to North Vietnam. Is it very accessible to tourists?
    If you could you could kindly PM me so that we can take the subject off line.
    Thanks.
