    I don't think that is quite true. There may be some deforestation in other parts of Sumatera but not around the area around Lake Toba.It is still a beautiful area with lots of natural unspoilt scenery.The majority of the inhabitants here are of the indigenous Batak people, who belong to the Batak Protestant Church.They are very artistic producing a lot of nice paintings, wood carvings and other handicrafts.They are also very musical.

    It looks like an idyllic place from your pictures. This time of year, up north in Michigan, the fog lifts slowly off ponds and lakes. Your pic's remind me of early fall mornings on my mom's back porch.
