    Default Southport Flower Show 2010

My local flower show is usually a great place to pick up a few orchid gifts for myself; but not this year. Only one orchid society (North of England) and one vendor were present. Not having many orhid blooms to test my new macro lens on, I turned my eye to other things. Sorry I didn't get the varieties but the first is a tuberous begonia, the rest speak for themselves.

There are alot of other things going on over the four day event. All kinds of cookery and craft displays. Falconry and dog agility takes place in the main arena. Managed to get a few shots of these impressive birds.

I love the bird pics! When I went to the bird rescue recently I bought a new book so I would know which are the large winged birds flying over my house. Your pictures are so good! I love the one with the man and bird together so you can see how massive these graceful creatures are. When they fly around here I forget everything and grab for my field glasses. I've become a bird watcher here in Florida.

Steve, these are wonderful shots. That last eagle is so amazing. I had no idea they were so large. The photo with the man is showing his size is great! I thought my blue and gold macaw was big ... haha.. that bird is huge. Really great shots of the flowers, tomatoes and cactus also.

    Cheers,
    BD

I see the macro lens has been a good purchase, all the pics are great, the tomato close up shot I like the most. And the last pic of eagle is amazing: his beak is magnificent and somehow frightening. There are quite a lot eagles in our mountains, we can hear their waving with the wings if they are flying low enough: I was quite scared when I heard them the first time.

Your photos are great, Steve! Liked them all, but I LOVED the one of the bald eagle the best! It is, the symbol of freedom here in the U.S. Thanks for sharing them with us...Love your new camera! Betty :-)
