Default It's finally spring in MN

I know most of you guys have had spring for weeks already. It's just starting here in tundraland.

This is Sanguuinaria canadensis (Bloodroot), my favorite early spring flower. I just had to snap this pic today since the flowers only last a short time.

nice photo...they are called bloodroot because the sap of the roots is reddish in color.

Actually, the sap from any part of the plant is reddish orange in color. It's really very pretty. Yep, this is from my garden. I've been scattering seed of this plant all over my garden for a few years now, so I'm starting to have many little clumps of this stuff.

As long as I'm doing the spring theme, here's another fav: Scilla siberica

    Hey Kev,

Your Scillas look stunning! Mine are in bud (and it's amazing because they were under snow only a week ago!) but it'll be a few more days before they're open. I like them because they're reasonably rabbit resistant. (Unlike virtually all my other bulbs--gawd, I get tired of putting up chiken wire cages!!!) Geez, rabbits are almost as bad as sleazy red, and hideous gray, squirrels!

    Newbie,

My deepest sympathies. About the only thing I come close to hating as much as squirrels is the white stuff from hell aka the white crap! I'll think positive thoughts and hope it melts REALLY fast!
