Geesh--I totally forgot about this thread.

Dana, just one greenhouse, and it's pretty small actually, only 18 x 36, so things are pretty crammed in there.

Jennifer, they all get watered by hand with a watering wand to reach. Takes about 2 hours or so.

Anyway... thanks. Really nice to walk into, mornings.

Hubris I say! Hubris! If I nickname myself any of those things, the Evil Fungus will come and devour EVERYTHING!

Dana, here's an exterior view, all my veggie gardening tools, the greenhouse AC, etc..

The second pic is the Dosatron unit. Fertilizer is mixed up highly concentrated in a bucket; this dilutes it to whatever proportion you set (I keep it at 1:100) and feeds it straight into the hose.

I don't like the green bush. Chop it down.

(Ignore me, I'm feeling rather brat like today)

I still don't like the bush.

Louis I have to ask. Why an AC in the GH? Wouldnt a wetpad or evap cooler be less expencive to run? I;m just curious. I would think if you run an exhost fan it would pull out all the cool air your pumping in. The GH looks great!! I'm just curious how you manage it is all. What % shade cloth are you using? Thanks.

I would love to have a GH that size and don't have much experiance with GH this is why I am asking. If they are trade secrets that fine, but if you don't mind sharing then great I'm here to listen. I'm in GA and have a 12' x 12' home made GH that so far I have managed to keep below 100 without a wetwall or cooler, but I don't think I will be able to keep it that way all summer. I know that I can keep it warm during the winter with 2 space heaters, but this is the first time cooling and I just want to know how others in warm climates do it. Thanks again.
P.S. I agree with Kev I don't like the bush. LOL
Can I bring a chain saw over?? he he he

    Hi Josh!

We use a cool cell (cool pad). The AC is for extreme heat. Here in AR temps can get well over 100 degrees F outside. That would put the temps way high inside the greenhouse. One August about, five or six years ago, the temp outside was over 100 going on something like 30 days in a row. We put in the AC unit to "quick cool" the house down. Taking the moisture out of the air allowed the cool cell to actually put moisture back into the air causing the temp to drop quickly. Here is a link to a thread where Louis shows a photo of the cool cell and gives a little information about it for those who want to check it out. http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...1&postcount=13

The AC only comes on in extreme heat situations and the ducts are designed to blow right at bench level as to cool off the plants. There is an exhaust fan in the peak of the GH that sucks the high heat out quickly and the exhaust fan on the side (in the photo by the AC unit) to pull air across the plants from the pads.

Louis can answer the question about the shade cloth percentage. I cannot remember off hand what percent we are using now.

I hope that clears up the AC questions though!

    Cheers!

    Your GH is way cool!

The juniper needs to go. A really cool thing to do with it would be to dig it up and bonsai it. The driftwood style would work perfectly on something that size.

Oh yes. Have you thought about the shade that thing is going to create in the future?? Junipers can grow pretty tall.
