Default Friends in the orchid house - Agamid Lizard and Tree Frog

I see these two among the orchids very often. The Agamid lizard, Calotes versicolor, or the Garden Fence Lizard is a very common animal found in almost every garden here. This, I believe, is the female because it looks very drab compared with the male, which in his mating garb of orange yellow and red throat cuts a very imposing figure indeed. This particular Agamid measures about 14 inches, 8 inches of which is the tail.

The Common Tree Frog of South East Asia Polypedates leucomystaxis also very common in our gardens, and sometimes in the homes. When alarmed it jumps off and shoots its urine towards the cause of the alarm. As kids we were deadly scared of them as the adults used to tell horrific stories about the effects of the urine - from causing skin burns and blisters to horrible skin diseases and even leprosy!!!!! LOL

You have some cute friends Yew Does this mean that, given that you have this small frog, you're walking around the house on pussy-foot not to scare it?

No point pussy-footing around. It likes to attach itself to the curtains, doors, windows - places where you least expect it to be. Just imagine : you open the curtains and suddenly you feel a squirt of liquid and in the next instant something sticking to your arm and you try to shake it off and it sticks like glue - your eyes meet another pair of eyes....panic all round; another squirt of liquid and thankfully it's gone.

To me it's the most "UGH" feeling to have this frog stuck on you!!!!

I like your companions Yew. Tell them you have some yellow beetles for them to snack on. AL
