    Default Corsages

We went to a wedding in Milwaukee last weekend. On the drive up, I made some corsages, and a couple of boutonnieres. Unfortunately, I failed to take good pictures of them before they were pinned onto people. Feh.

    #1:

On the left, 3 Bardendrum Nanboh Pixy, then a Phal. Deventeriana in the center, with a Phal. (Penang 'Pinkfilligree' x Green Mist 'Khong') peeking over the right, and another Bardendrum Nanboh Pixy in the lower right.

    #2:

Just a blooming spike from the Bardendrum Nanboh Pixy, with some ferny bits.

    #3:

The largest of the bunch. Left to right, Phal. cornu-cervi, Phal. (Penang 'Pinkfilligree' x Green Mist 'Khong'), Phal. (Hawaiian Clouds 'Hawaii' x Yukimai 'Tinny'), Phalaenopsis (Carmela's Brite Lites 'The Light' x Taida Lawrence 'El Nino'), and Phal. Deventeriana.

    And here they are together:

    #4:

This is a Paph. hainanensis (syn. appletonianum var. hainanensis) surrounded by three Den. Spring Dream 'Apollon'.

    #5:

Phal. (Hawaiian Clouds 'Hawaii' x Yukimai 'Tinny'), with a little Slc. (Tangerine Jewel ‘Southern Cross’ x Lc. Rojo). And, of course, the requisite ferny bits.

    And here we are together:

Totally and completely awesome, Sue. And what a great gift for the people that wore your work (in addition to fun for you and the lovely OH).

Sue- That is really neat. I think I would have a hard time cutting things in bloom, but it's probably because I don't have that many things in bloom at any one time! You must have quite the collection. Way to go.

Those really are beautiful corsages. (I assume they were from your collection . . .) I'd bet the people wearing them didn't know how hard you had to work to grow and then make each one. I love that each one is a little different. Very nice.

    p.s.
Thanks again for the Calanthe. I was just admiring it again this evening and my other one is a matched pair with it. Definitely a mild case of too much time at the beach!!!

Sue, you have a lot more patience and artistry than I ever would be able to muster up.

WOW!! I have never seen a corsage made of Paph before, very creative.

Those orchid corsages remind me of my niece's wedding when we ran out of flowers for corsage. Luckily, it was the season when Den superbum were in full bloom. So, we raided someone's garden but the finished product were not as near as good as those Sue made.Good job, Sue.

    very attractive corsages,
I appreciate that you mentioned the exact name of each flower, too.
It's interesting to see such different flowers right next to each other,
I had no idea the Deventeriana has such a large bloom.
Although, my favorite is the classic white phal,
with the very saturated red Slc. as an accent,
    it's simple, clean, and elegant.
