    That is a stunning photo, Kev. Tell me more about the smell. Somehow, I've never noticed more than a basic "plant" smell on peonies around here.

    Boy! I couldn't even begin to describe the smell of peonies. It has to be the one of the most intoxicating fragrances on earth. When peony season arrives I pick armloads of them and have bouquets all over the house. I almost get high from the smell, but in a good way.

    I have three favorite fragrances:

    Peonies
    Lilacs
    Lilies of the Valley

    I judge everything else by those three.


    I do have one peony that smells more like a rose than any rose I've ever come across. Maybe that's kind of what a peony smells like, but usually not as sweet.
