This is one of my dogs Miss Kook, a pic I took last spring on a warm day, the first day the lizards were out after a cold winter, explains the big smile. Lizards are her favorite pastime, they don't stand a chance around her. My favorite are the green ones, when they get on a clay pot they turn the most beautiful shade of terracotta. fun pics thank you for sharing
in Jamaica i heard of a growers complaining Anoles eat their orchid flowers..i have seen them licking honeydew but recently a friends says her catt blooms were eaten by our Bronze anole(introduced many years ago)...i hope this is not the case in Florida with your species
we don't have them in Central Florida but I observed couple nice specimens in May when I spent a few wonderful days at Hawks Cay resort (Duck Key, FL)
One guy did not mind to be a model for my photo session
Another guy was so fast that I did not have chance to take a portrait. I wonder if you can see him on the picture?
Great shots of the iguanas, Nat. We don't have iguanas here but there a quite a number of monitor lizards around my area. They can grow quite big up to 15 lbs. They feed on small animals and carrion and it's quite difficult to photograph them as they are very wary of humans and scamper away before we get to 20 feet of them.
Thank you Yew!
I cropped the last picture
I love lizards! And frogs. And...I remember those beautiful lined skink juveniles from when I was a young boy. My mother and her family would be upset if they ever saw one! The poor naive people called them scorpions! The blow doubles when you consider that there are no actual scorpions dangerous to humans in that area. Love your pics Nat!
