    Default A magical moment

Nowhere is it more evident than in these pictures I took recently in the Cameron Highlands, how the quality of light can transform the ordinary and mundane into something quite dramatic.

This tea estate is about 10 minutes drive from our apartment. This estate has a tea house overlooking the the tea plantation and serves excellent tea and scones and curry puffs..The view from the tea house provides a spectacular panoramic vista of the estate.I have taken hundreds of pictures from the same vantage point over the years, but the tropical sun is not ideal for landscape photography, usually rendering the whole scene flat and 2-dimensional. So on this particular day at around 10 am when I noticed a tropical storm brewing, I knew I might have the opportunity for some dramatic lighting, and headed straight for the tea house. A break in the clouds provided me with the moment I had been waiting for. The moment was ,alas, too brief and I could just barely take 4 shots before it was gone.

Picture 3 - Very ordinary with with light from an overcast sky.

Thanks Bruce. It is a wonderful place - those who have visited it will attest to that. When I visited it about 30 years ago I vowed I would try to get a place here and 12 years ago I was presented an opportunity to buy an apartment and jumped at the chance. Since then, I have spent a few weeks every year here either with the wife or joined by the children and grand daughters. The children have promised to keep the apartment in the family even when we are gone.

Beautiful photos, Yew! I particularly enjoyed the first two -- the contrasting shadows made for a lovely effect.

I hope you'll realise your dream of owning a place in CH. There's a new property development project behind the the old Golf Course Inn - mostly double storey linked houses.
