Default Phillip's Irises Blooming Across Our Pond in Atlanta

Phillip and I waded into the pond knee-deep two years ago, to plant these clumps of irises, as well as a bunch of summer-blooming reds and blues. They didn't bloom last year, and I scarcely had time to appreciate them this year. But, wow - have they ever taken well!

Phillip would have been so proud to see his handiwork pay off. These photos hardly do it justice. The long distance shot is the view from our deck looking across to where you can see the beginnings of the clumps of green starting to show - which was back in February,
I think. Long sigh....and a few trickling tears....

They are lovely Maura. I will have to take Addy on a hike tomorrow and see if the ones in the creek are in bloom.

Those irises really dress up the pond.

I hope it will get easier for you, Maura... As hard as it has been, aren't you glad that you have the wonderful memeory, which will last you forever? I can imaging that someday you will enjoy a cup of coffee, looking the irises across the pondwith a smile. I have a silk blouse my grandmother got me before she passed away. It now brings warmth and smile to my face when I put that on. And I am working really hard to be able to fit in it after 20+ years

I'm so glad you and Phillip did that, Maura, so now you can enjoy this whisper from him.

We have an Englkish native iris, very similar to your pale yellow one - seen in the marshy areas of the New Forest, locally to where I live. But not out yet I think.
But seasonal things . such as flowers, are great memory jerkers . Good and bad too. You have to remember the good times, and smile. Geoff's orders !

A beautiful setting you have there, Maura! A poignant, bitter-sweet memory to be sure.
