    Default smart dove

I get doves nesting this time of year, this one picked the prime spot, nothing would climb this to get them. It's nesting in one of my pachypodiums that also has alludia growing through it. I bought the alludia years ago in a 4 inch pot, it looked like a cool form of crown of thorns, but thanks to the internet I see it is a tree that can grow up to 50 feet, great, the form is sloppy and rests on my pachy to keep it's branches up. This bird is so safe.Name: done 2 (Copy).jpg

Lovely Mourning Dove. They will nest just about anywhere, as I have experienced seeing here amongst my trees and landscape.

I had to laugh when I saw the title of this thread, "smart dove." We have so many doves in our area, and - while I love them - they seem to be the stupidest of birds! They always seem to decide to take walks across the street regardless of oncoming traffic. I find myself talking with them all the time, encouraging them to ... just MOVE! as I'm driving so I don't hit them.

Maybe they have to be smart homebulders to ensure a lot of offspring to replace the thrill seekers who try to out maneuver the cars.
