my place attracts mostly the female pheasants but there is no damage since they mostly it the fallen fruit in the orchard and the rotten tomatos in the garden
    so everyone is happy
they have a full belly i have less bad fruit or vegetable to clean away

I love your sunflowers and your wild flowers too!

We have wild sunflowers in our area, they grow as bushes with lots of small yellow flowers. When I grow the bigger sunflowers (and those with colors), they will hybridize with the wild ones and I get some crazy fun sunflowers - the first generation I get huge bushes with medium/small flowers of various colors. Now I have some that re-seed every year and come up as large bushes with about 6" yellow sunflowers. The finches love them.

We also have wild life in our small farming town. We have lots of birds, wild turkeys and deer that wander by every day and drive my poor dog crazy. They stand outside our fence and ignore her! They raise their babies in my neighbors very large wooded lot.

Here's what my wild sunflowers look like:

    Those are SO pretty!

What kind of climate do you have? How long is your growing season?
