    Default Dartmouth Plants 3

This first fellow had very shimmery, velvety leaves. It's a:
    Colocasia 'Black Magic' Araceae

Then a very pretty water lily.
    Hydrocleys nymphoides Limnocharitaceae

I found a Cymbidium in this back room, so this will be out of place in this forum...but whatever. It's a Minnekon Pink Tower.

And this is the coolest. I snapped the pic because I loved how these little white flowers grew right out of the bark of the trunk. I only later saw that giant yellow squash thing hanging down. (I'm so observant!) And I've only just figured out that this is a cocoa tree! And the squash is a mature seed pod filled with cocoa beans! Folks, this is where the Hershey bar begins its journey! Very cool...

    Theobroma cacao Sterculiaceae

Nice shots. That cocoa plant fruit looks a little spindly compared to the ones in plantations in central america.... The "squirrels" love them. So do the parrots.

I'm going to have to add a pond to my fantasy greenhouse so I can have water lilies..

    *Drool* hmm... choc-lit....

Lovely water lily... I wanted one to grow in my pond but alas the pond doesn't get enough sunlight to get these beauties to flower...
