I went to my uncle's house last weekend. My uncle has a few Dendrobiums and other orchids as well as other interesting plants.
The Dendrobium is about 1 meter.

Grammatophylum is also about 1 meter.
very nice and healthy plants
A peculiar fruit that I have never seen before. He said it is a wild brinjal. Not sure if edible though. It has 2-3 sharp thorns on its leaves.
Etlingera elatior. Often used in cooking.
Banana heart (blossom)
Nice garden, it must be great to spend some time in this environment. I am still working on my backyard, have a long way to go...at least there are orchids on each end of the property and some in the middle, I just have to decide what next and get going.
Your uncle.s place is very interesting. That yellow fruit/vegetable is indeed from the egg-plant ( brinjal) family. It is very popular in Hong Kong for the Lunar New Year decoration as it is supposed to bring good luck.
Your uncle's reminds me of my uncle's place in Yan where my younger brother and I used to spend some wonderful school vacations .
Lovely garden. Sorry to hear about the loss. These days loosing phone is more painful than certain things.
