It's hard to know what raptors sweep the streets here. I've seen red-taileds 10 miles inland. I've seen smaller owls (screech) here as well. But there's not a lot of open ground. We're pretty heavily populated.

There's a bird sanctuary on Marblehead Neck (a rather shee-shee community with homes starting in the $1.5 mill range), but I've seen more birds in the yards neighboring the sanct, than I've ever seen in it, and the owl boxes within are empty.

My two cats make good clean-up! Squirrel babies will eventually venture forth. Tom got one last spring, and nearly a second (before I explained there's no such thing as a free lunch...he was poised as a baby tree rat was climbing down the porch post.)

One baby got into the cellar last spring, and getting it out was such a huge PIA, I have little mercy for those that choose to cohabitate, when not invited!

We are gonna let Tommy eating those juicy bushy tailed rats? What's wrong with our burgoo? And our possum stew? ATester highly recommends it!
Kidding aside, I think they are very skittish animals, just by disturbing their nest, they will get the message and leave.

I think squirrels should never be harmed, as long as they don't come within 50 feet of a building, a garden or my birdfeeders!!!
