Sorry to hear about the crispy Pleuros! They are so intolerant of adverse conditions.

I've taken the mini plunge and have a terrarium with a bunch of little guys. I'm not sure what I was thinking, but they are cute. A couple are about to bloom, and my driftwood is getting moldy in the humidity. Will regular Physan sprays counteract the mold? Or is 80-90% humidity too moist? I just love running the little fogger!

    Thanks everyone for the congrats.

Julie - lower the humidity. Contrary to logic, these guys really can get TOO humid. somewhere between 70-80% should do it, and as long as you keep the air circulating well, the mold should not come back, after the physan treatment - in especially low doses - lower than you would have it at with your other plants. for example, i fertilize them at about 1/8th the potency i use for a dendrobium, etc. and it still shocks them a bit from time to time. theyre very sensitive to chemicals. i use evaporated water in the sprayer and the humidifier.

a sidenote- i actually found that it works better to keep the humidity up if you keep the humidifier on low, rather than high. since its going to be running almost constantly, the high fanspeed will actually dry out the wick, and keep the water from evaporating, thus negating itself.

ill be sure to post more pics of mookster as they come. hes growing like wild. i put him on a raw diet and hes absolutely doing amazingly on it. its the coolest thing. i already feel like hes my kid!
