More Local Wildlife
For squirrel lovers - go no further!!!
While doing chores this morning I looked out the window and noticed another one of the local animals making it's way along the fence to my patio. I ran to the next room to get my camera, and when I got back, the critter had made it past my place to the neighbors patio. I was going to put the camera back when suddenly she reappeared on the bank below the patios - with breakfast! Amazing how fast she caught the squirrel. It took her about 6 or 7 minutes to finish off her breakfast, I was taking pictures the whole time, but again with my little digital, no tripod and on max telephoto, most of the shots were too shaky to use. She was about 30 feet further away from me than the hawk that I photographed the other day.

She looks more well-fed than lots of coyotes I've seen--must be a good hunter! Another reason not to let kitties wander around outside. I guess she ate the squirrel fur/tail and all?

I see them regularly around here, as our little arroyo leads to a "greenspace" preserve of about 100 acres. She probably HAS eaten her share of cats, that is why no one in my neighborhood lets their cats out. I was hoping she stay around and catch another squirrel - we have so many and they are always raiding the birdfeeders and knocking over plants....
She did eat the entire squirrel, head first... I got a rather funny but gross picture of her with just the tail of the squirrel sticking out of her mouth.

Great shots of nature and close enough shots of that gruesome scene.
