    Yes, the opening in the side of his head is the ear. He has one just like it on the other side.

    There is a very thin membrane that is half way between the openings. If it was not there you could shine a light all the way through. (Now don't go picking on Diane, Julie!!!) This acts like our ear drum. I am not certain to what degree he can differentiate sounds though. I imagine it is pretty rudimentary. Leos can vocalize though so I am certain it is at least partially advanced beyond the noise/no noise level. He was grumbling at me while I was trying to get the picture of him since I woke him up from his nap.

    Now, Steven, I never said, suggested, hinted or encouraged anyone to believe Diane Thumb had a hole in her head. Much less, a rudimentary tympanic membrane. I'm sure the sweet delicate flower of a girl's hearing is quite good for a sweet delicate flower.

    Don't go getting me into trouble. I'm quite capable of doing it on my own, thank you.
